PROJRCT 1

Contextual Study Sketch Journal of a Traditional Street

In this assessment, each student must select a traditional street from KL or Malacca from the list provided, and they must a physical site visit to observe and learn about the unique geographical surroundings. Following the elements of religious structures, architectural façades and styles, shophouses, markets, traditional business or trades, local or traditional cuisines, historical events, and social institutions, physical and non-physical surroundings should be identified and interpreted through sketching.

The final product is a manual sketch notebook in which the students must interpret a typical street they have chosen using both tangible and intangible elements to demonstrate their grasp of how these characteristics contribute to the identity of the location. To help clarify the project's goal, a synopsis based on the students' own experiences with the street is also provided.

Final Outcome

Reflection

I gain a lot about Malaysia's heritage streets and had to conduct a lot of research. There are numerous beautiful temples that are situated there and that are aware of Jalan Tun Hs Lee's distinctive features. In addition, I learnt how to gather crucial data from articles and videos and use it to create my own analyses. For me, it has been an exciting adventure.
